About me.
Hello. My name is Sophie. I live on the beautiful South Coast of NSW with my partner, Ben, and our Fox Red Labrador, Bernice. I was that girl who always had a camera in her bike basket, whether it was my Polaroid Job Pro, my trusty Voigtländer Vito, or my Pentax K1000.
I started my career 25 years ago as a photographer before veering sideways into the media and publishing industries for over 20 years, working as an Art Director for the likes of EMAP, Bauer, Pacific Magazines (CH7), NEXT Media, and The Sydney Morning Herald. My love of an expertly captured image led me to found my own magazine in 2012. Hello May, Australia’s number one wedding magazine, had a real focus on fine art photography under my creative direction and, despite selling the business in 2023, it remains a product and community I’m incredibly proud to have created.
In 2011, my dad died very suddenly. If there is one thing I have learnt from grief and its long trail of consequence, it is to take pictures. Take pictures of everything, everywhere, of every single person you love, and every single memory you want to keep. Nothing is more precious and valuable to me than photos with my dad, and I hope that the photos I take for you will be just as precious to someone you love one day.
